Mr. Jose R. Guerrero, a partner of RAMIREZ & GUERRERO, L.L.P., focuses his practice in school law, labor and employment law, consumer law, litigation, and appellate law. As a school law practitioner, Mr. Guerrero has counseled governing bodies and administrative staff of clients in matters such as employee terminations, suspensions, and grievances; Texas Open Meetings Act; Texas Public Information Act; competitive bidding procedures and procurement policies; construction contracts; student and employee constitutional issues and EEOC complaints. In his consumer law practice, Mr. Guerrero represents plaintiffs in insurance claims, defective automobile claims, and defective home construction claims. Mr. Guerrero has represented clients in over 20 appeals, primarily in civil cases. Since 1999, Mr. Guerrero has been assisting school districts in Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy counties with the calling of bond elections and guiding the districts' election administrators through the bond election process in such matters as the preparation of election orders, election notices, election schedules, and requests for preclearance of election procedures from the U.S. Dept. of Justice under Sec. 5 of the Voting Rights Act.
